MK Snow Tours & Travel Reviews

I love visiting Kenya to see the abundant wildlife. Mark’s advice to
travel in June rather than May this year proved beneficial for my short
trip.I visited Lake Navasha for this first time, then returned to Lake
Nakuru National Park, which I always enjoy. The heavy rains in May meant
both lakes were filled high giving a different perspective from the way
they look in drier times. It is always lovely to see the birdlife and
animals, but even better when new species are spotted which happened on
this trip.Mark again arranged all my transport, park permits and booked
all accommodation.I will continue to use the services of MK Snow Tours
and Travel and I have no hesitation in recommending Mark and his team.
I’m hoping to be able to spend more time on my next visit. Thanks again
Mark.

We were in Kenya for a 11 day Safari in September 2023 and Mark was our tour organiser and guide for the entire trip. He was great and arranged all our requirements including accommodation, game park tickets and transport. He looked after all our needs and made sure we were comfortable and relaxed to enjoy the safari from the moment he picked us from Nairobi airport and up to the point he dropped us at the airport for our return flight. Wilson the driver we had was also super and together with Mark they made a good team. We had a great time visiting almost all the main game parks and a number of other interesting places in Kenya. We highly recommend Mk snow tours.

It was time for another trip to see the amazing and varied wildlife in Kenya and what better way to do so than with the services of a trusted tour company. I have been on a few trips with MK Snow Tours and Travel now, so without hesitation I contacted Mark to arrange my trip earlier in July. This time it included Lake Nakuru, a smaller game park, but still one that is packed with animals and birds of many species, including hundreds of flamingos that are there at this time of the year. Mark arranged transport, parks permits, booked all accommodation. It was a pleasure to go on tour with Mark and his team again. I can recommend MK Snow Tours and Travel and will be in touch for any future visit. Asante sana Mark.

Mark was our guide for a 30km day hike from Naro Moru Gate up to MaKinders and back down on Mt. Kenya. Wow, what an awesome way to experience the mountain for a day! Mark was the most attentive hiking guide we have ever had in Kenya. He often checked in to make sure the pace wasn't too slow or too fast, and he was really great to talk to. Additionally, he's a naturalist and was quite informative about the flora on different sections of the mountain. We will surely hire him again the next time we are back up on Mt. Kenya.

Mark Ntritu arranged an unforgettable trip for my family just before Christmas 2019. We made it to point Lenana from Sirimon, Old Moses and decended the Chogoria Valley. 3 days and 2 nights on the mountain. It was quite challenging, but we had very good weather. The guides and porters were all fantastic and we have no hesitation to recommend Mark and his team to anyone who wants to climb Mt Kenya.

Aberdares, Samburu and Ol Pejeta/Sweetwaters:
During March and April, I visited different parts of Africa including Aberdares, Samburu and Ol Pejeta/Sweetwaters in Kenya. This part of my trip was organised by Mark from MK Snow Tours and Travel with whom I’d travelled before. We drove to Aberdares National Park to see the beautiful waterfalls that are the feature of this park, but also saw Colombus and Sykes monkeys and buffalo. We camped near Chania Waterfall which meant I could walk to the falls on arrival and go again in the morning when the light was better for photos. The plateau is elevated so a visit here helps with acclimatisation if heading up Mt Kenya. It is possible to organise a walk, but this requires a ranger to go with the group. Mark can easily make such arrangements though.
I spent a day at Ol Pejeta Conservancy/Sweetwaters which straddles the equator and is home to the last two Northern White Rhinos. The game drive included a visit to Baraka, the blind black rhino. It was amazing to be so close to such a large, wild animal even if he is blind!
Samburu was in complete contrast to the green and cool of Aberdare. Dry, dusty and hot, but with very comfortable accommodation. It’s a national reserve teaming with wildlife and the morning and evening drives were fantastic. We spotted so many different animals and birds! Among my favourites were the Dik Dik, Oryx, a Leopard and Bee eaters.
Mark made all arrangements including airport pickups/drop-offs, permits, camping equipment, accommodation bookings and transport. He and William were helpful and knowledgeable about all the places I visited. It was a pleasure to travel with them again and I would recommend MK Snow Tours to anyone, especially if wanting a tailor-made trip. Thanks again Mark for everything you did to ensure an enjoyable visit.

Together with Mark I went up to Point Lenana at Mount Kenya in February. It was a great experience in this beautiful environment. Mark is a very experienced and helpful guide. He knows pretty much everyone on the mountain and could get us a cup of tea or hot chocolate everytime when needed. This trip up there is highly recommended.

Two weeks ago three friends and I went to Aberdare National Park on a day trip. We had a really nice day with Mark and William. They picked us up in the morning and we drove around the park for the whole day. William told us so much about the nature and the animals. We were so lucky to see a leopard.
MK Snow Tours brought a nice lunch and everything was taking care of. We also went on safari in Masai Mara with MK Snow Tours and we will recomend others to do the same!

3 friends and I went to Masai Mara for safari. It was an amazing trip beyond our expectations. We were very lucky and saw the big nine and a lot of other animals. Everything was taken care of and our guides, Mark and Richard, were nice and shared a lot of knowledge. MK Snow Tours comes highly recomended from us.

Awesome Experience

3 friends and I just completed a 5 day trip to Mt Kenya with MK Snow Tours. Our trip included the summit of Point Lenana (16355’). Our guide Sammy was the best possible as he provided expert leadership, help during the hikes and was extremely personable. The porters and cooks were fantastic and our food was top notch! This was a challenging trip physically but well worth it. MK Snow Tours is a professionally run organization and highly recommended if you want the adventure of a lifetime.

I was part of the Take a Walk Australian Tour Group. Mark was a fabulous host and tour guide. He provided a beautiful tour of Mount Kenya that will remain etched in my memory forever. The scenery was breathtaking and the attention to detail was amazing. I would recommend MK Snow Tours for anyone interested in exploring East Africa!

John and I were also part of the group from Australia who visited Tanzania and trekked up Mount Kenya with MK Snow Tours. What an amazing trip we had! Plenty of wildlife, stunning scenery and a taste of other cultures.
Our drivers/guides were very knowledgeable about the animals and drove safely at all times. We saw so much thanks to their ability to spot animals quickly, often at a great distance!
The Mount Kenya trek was well organised. We walked through some beautiful alpine scenery. Mark and his team were always helpful and friendly. The meals were very good too (I loved the donuts!).
Mark is capable, trustworthy and communicates well. We are more than happy to recommend MK Snow Tours. Thanks Mark for a wonderful journey.

Alan & I were part of a group from Australia who toured Tanzania & Mt Kenya with MK Snow Tours & had a fabulous time. In Tanzania we drove through the Ngorongoro Conservation Park & the Serengeti National Park & were amazed at all the animals we saw - the big 5, the ugly 5 & most of the small 5. Our drivers/guides were very knowledgable & nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The camps were comfortable & the food was great.
Our 5 day climb up Mt Kenya taking the scenic Chogoria route was amazing. Our guides were very conscious of everyone's safety - their mantra, 'pole pole' or 'slowly slowly', made the ascent doable for the whole group & nearly everyone reached the peak at Point Leanna.
I would be happy to recommend MKSnow Tours. Thank you Mark!!

Last weekend I went to Ol Pejeta from Friday morning to Saturday afternoon with three friends. It was an amazing trip! The driver, William, was the nicest driver and guide - he knew everything about every animal. I would definitely recommend people going with MK Snow Tours and Travel for a guaranteed good time!
Ol Pejeta was amazing - a shame that more people don't go. On Friday we saw 3 of the big five and lots of other animals. Saturday we began the day at 6.30, and within 1.5 hours we saw all of the big 5. We will definitely go again if we visit Kenya again. Francis gave us a very nice price, and the experience was beyond what we had hoped for.

What a fantastic Christmas Present to have spent 4 fabulous day with Mark and the team on Mt Kenya in December 2016.
We were 2 adults and 3 kids (aged 14, 12 & 10) and we were treated like kings! We went up via the Sirimon Route and came down via the Chogoria Route and all our hikes were breathtaking from one minute to the next. All the guides took time to stop and explain plants and landscape features along the way to both children and adults.
The patience of the whole team with our last minute changes to plans was truly wonderful and they really made sure that we were always 100% ok with everything.
It's now nearly a month later and the children are still talking about their adventure.
Asanteni Sana and we will see you again soon to Touch The Sky!

We made a 5 days hiking tour with Mark from Nara Moru to Point Lenana (Mt. Kenya) in late 2008. This tour under Mark's excellent guidance and care taking become an unforgetable memory to us. If we have a chance we will do it again! All best to Mark and his team. Warm regards from Myanmar, T&G

One of my favorite experiences thus far in Kenya! The porters, cooks, and guides are amazing and so full of information. They made sure all our needs were met. We could not have completed the hike without them! We are so thankful to have done Mt. Kenya with Mk Snow Tours. I recommend this company to all who are looking to hike Mt. Kenya!

Our chef did an excellent job of keeping us fed and full. The porters were so friendly and helpful. I was so grateful for their encouragement and support all the way up and down the mountain. We had a nice trekk to the summit of Point Lenana with Mark,okt-2005.
That was training for us one week before we reached Kilimanjaro,
on Stellans 50 year birthday. Very good to have been on high altitude,
before Kilimanjaro.

We completed a 4 day trek on Mt. Kenya, thanks to the Snow Tours crew. This was an amazing trek with great panoramas and lots of beautiful changing landscapes. Our guide Sam (Samuel) and his team of porters and cooks made the trek a trek to remember. Though we haven't been trekking much before, Sam assured that we would make it - and we all did thanks to lots of motivation and humor from Sam. The cooks were brilliant as well and the porters took really good care of our stuff. These guys are reliable and generally a great company!

A few weeks earlier we went to Masai Mara with Mark and his driver James - great guys as well. On this safari we became friends with the guys and even Mark's son. These guys had arranged a perfect safari and that's the reason why we used same company for the Mt. Kenya trip.

Asante sana rafiki / thank you friends - be blessed

We were hiking with Mark and his Team for about 14 days in Aberdares, Mount Kenia and Massai mara. It was a great time. Mark was a very careful guide, we always felt safe - also in snow and rain. He took care for all of us 6. His second guide Sami was the best, he could bring with him. We want to say thanks to them both and the others (cook and porters), they also have been very good to us. The food was delicous.
I want to recommend Mark, Sami and the ohers.

I called several different guides to check prices and I found that Mark was by far the most reasonable, he was very kind and accommodating and booked everything for me, including equipment.

Unfortunately due to plans that were out of my control I was unable to go for the hike and only let Mark know the evening before. Despite the inconvenience this must have caused he was extremely understanding.

From the exchanges we had I would recommend him to anyone who is thinking to climb Mt.Kenya. He was very honest and well organised- I don't think you could find a better guide!

We were 14 days with Mark and his team in the Aberdares, Mt. Kenia and on safari in Massai Mara. It was such a great and very good time with all of them. Mark and his guide Samy had always patience and we always felt save, secure and optimally curated. They are the best guides i ever had and I would like to make another tour with mark and his team!! Everything was perfect! I also loved the delicious meal – it was always so good :-)! I have to say thank you for all and wish all the best!!

I was the weakest link on my friends' recent 4-day trip to the Lenana Summit on Mt Kenya. Our guide Sammy Gathara was unbelievably patient, cheerful, and very competent. He set a good pace for us, and was always ready to answer questions and lend a helping hand. I highly recommend touring with this group!!

Three friends & I just finished a 4 day/3 night trip with MK Snow Tours & it was amazing! We could not have asked for a better trip or a more wonderful team to take us to the top. We were incredibly pleased with everything Mark had organized for us. There were no hidden costs once we got there & our guide, porters, & cooks were phenomenal. We actually live in Kenya & did some research regarding who we booked through. The trip was so well done & it was worth every penny because they took such good care of us. I am going to refer Mark, our guide Sammy, & MK Snow tours to everyone!

Summer 2014 I organised a large group of visitors and students to go on a Mount Kenya 5 day trip with Mark and his company. We had an amazing time! The trip went so smoothly -our guides were amazing, the food was great and the porters were friendly. We had several people who got sick and struggled and the guides were so encouraging and helpful, they really took care of us well. Mount Kenya is a good, challenging trip -I absolutely recommend this company -they keep you safe and enable you to truly enjoy your time.

I have lived in Kenya for many years and first met Mark Kinyua and MKSnowtours in 2006 I believe. Mark has led me and my guests and family to climb Mt. Kenya twice, and I have referred half a dozen other friends acquaintances to Mark. Without exception every one has come back from Mt. Kenya very pleased with their experience and with Mark and his colleagues - with their helpfulness and their reasonable pricing. I highly recommend him!

I climbed Mt. Kenya with MKSNOWTOURS in December of 2014. We had a wonderful experience enjoying the stunning beauty of the mountain. The entire process was well organized, the food was delicious, and the guide / tour organizer was professional, competent, safe, and friendly. It was a great adventure for a very reasonable price. I will definitely use MKSNOWTOURS in the future and recommend them to my friends.
